Starting February 1, 2025, late renewal fees will apply to any dealer or salesperson renewal submitted after the expiry date. A late renewal fee refers to a fee imposed on renewal applications submitted after the expiry date for the registration. Applications submitted after the expiry date will no longer be considered renewals. Instead, they will be treated as new applications and subjected to standard processing and routine evaluations.
The late fee will be charged in addition to the standard renewal fees required to maintain registration with OMVIC.
The late fee represents the additional time needed for OMVIC to review a renewal submitted late.
Renewal Fee | Late Renewal Fee | Total Renewal Fee (including late fee ) |
|
Dealer | $385 | $300 | $685 |
Salesperson | $200 | $150 | $350 |
Tips to avoid late fees:
- Mark your deadline: Submit your renewal as early as 60 days of the expiry date with all required fee documentation.
- Check for approval: Ensure your application and payment have been processed and approved.
- Act promptly: Unforeseen delays won’t exempt you from the charges.
Operating without a valid licence is a violation of Section 4 of the Motor Vehicle Dealers Act. For assistance, contact OMVIC’s Registration Services.
