OMVIC is currently searching for a Registration Regulatory Analyst for our Toronto corporate office.
Who is OMVIC?
OMVIC (Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council) is Ontario’s vehicle sales regulator. OMVIC enforces the Motor Vehicle Dealers Act and other consumer protection statutes for the Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery. OMVIC’s mandate and role is to maintain a fair and informed marketplace by protecting the rights of consumers, enhancing industry professionalism, and ensuring fair, honest, and open competition for registered motor vehicle dealers. This is achieved by maintaining strict dealer/salesperson registration requirements; inspecting all Ontario dealers (new and used); providing free complaint handling to consumers; developing/delivering consumer and dealer education/awareness programs; and investigating and prosecuting industry non-compliance and illegal sales (curbsiding).

Responsibilities:
  • Provide operational, tactical, and strategic regulatory analysis to support the Registration Department. 
  • Assess department performance against KPIs for response time, accuracy, and stakeholder satisfaction. 
  • Implement quality assurance measures and generate reports on key metrics for senior management. 
  • Analyze data on transaction fee remittance and coordinate with relevant departments for audit reviews. 
  • Identify areas for process improvement and lead initiatives to enhance operational efficiency. 
  • Collaborate with IT to enhance systems and streamline registration workflows. 
  • Collect, prioritize, and disseminate regulatory information/data for operational planning and reporting. 
  • Generate proactive and reactive regulatory reports for dissemination to management and staff. 
  • Liaise with outside agencies and stay informed of current trends in the regulatory environment. 
  • Prepare and present regulatory reports at briefings and legal proceedings as required. 
  • Perform other duties as required. 
Qualifications:
  • 2-3 years of regulatory experience analyzing data and reporting for compliance. 
  • University degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Computer Science, Social Science, Political Science, Public Administration, or equivalent education/experience. 
  • Training in regulatory analysis, data management, or research is an asset. 
  • Proficient in analysis, report preparation, correspondence, and communications. 
  • Experience in collecting, prioritizing, researching, and disseminating regulatory information/data. 
  • Knowledge of the Motor Vehicle Dealers Act 2002, Consumer Protection Act, and other regulatory processes. 
  • Familiar with the Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council and relevant provincial government organizations. 
  • Understanding of consumer protection issues and commitment to customer service and quality principles. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to handle challenging situations. 
  • Excellent organizational, administrative, and time management skills. 
  • Knowledge of CRM systems and Dynamics 365. 
  • Analytical skills for interpreting complex legislation. 
  • Strong communication, training, and mentoring abilities. 
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. 
  • Bilingualism is an asset.
