Who is OMVIC?

OMVIC (Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council) is Ontario’s vehicle sales regulator. OMVIC enforces the Motor Vehicle Dealers Act and other consumer protection statutes for the Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery. OMVIC’s mandate and role is to maintain a fair and informed marketplace by protecting the rights of consumers, enhancing industry professionalism and ensuring fair, honest and open competition for registered motor vehicle dealers. This is achieved by maintaining strict dealer/salesperson registration requirements; inspecting all Ontario dealers (new and used); providing free complaint handling to consumers; developing/delivering consumer and dealer education/awareness programs; and investigating and prosecuting industry non-compliance and illegal sales (curbsiding).

Responsibilities:

  • Review, evaluate, and approve registration applications and related forms regarding material changes and terminations in accordance with the Motor Vehicle Dealers Act (“MVDA”).
  • Ensure applications and supporting documents are accurately recorded and follow-up regarding missing information.
  • Track and monitor status of applications as they advance through the registration
  • Escalate and prepare applications for review with written
  • Prepare proposed Terms and Conditions, Caution Letters, Warning Letters, and other administrative
  • Communicate current and accurate information regarding policies, procedures, and services to external
  • Analyze and resolve applicant/registrant needs, offering appropriate options, guidance, and resolutions, in accordance with the
  • Process OMVIC and Compensation Fund payments, including non-payment follow-up, refunds, deposits, reconciliation, and
  • Ensure all stakeholder inquiries are addressed within the 24-hour service delivery
  • Develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of regulatory policies and guidelines as it relates to registration.
  • Complete database set up for all application types and create/update applicant/registrant profiles.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education or 3+ year relevant work experience.
  • Superior client service skills with the ability to remain patient and helpful under
  • Ability to analyze and interpret the needs of stakeholders and offer the appropriate options and
  • Ability to respond quickly in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a keen attention to
  • Excellent communication (verbal & written) and interpersonal
