OMVIC is currently searching for a Manager, Digital Communications for our Toronto corporate office.

Who is OMVIC?

OMVIC (Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council) is Ontario’s vehicle sales regulator. OMVIC enforces the Motor Vehicle Dealers Act and other consumer protection statutes for the Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery. OMVIC’s mandate and role is to maintain a fair and informed marketplace by protecting the rights of consumers, enhancing industry professionalism, and ensuring fair, honest, and open competition for registered motor vehicle dealers. This is achieved by maintaining strict dealer/salesperson registration requirements; inspecting all Ontario dealers (new and used); providing free complaint handling to consumers; developing/delivering consumer and dealer education/awareness programs; and investigating and prosecuting industry non-compliance and illegal sales (curbsiding).

Role Summary:

The Manager, Digital Communications is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing digital communication strategies to enhance the organization’s online presence, engagement, and reputation.

This role manages all digital platforms, including the website, social media channels, and email marketing, ensuring consistent and impactful messaging across digital spaces. The manager also analyzes and reports on digital performance to optimize future initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive digital communication strategy aligned with organizational goals
  • Manage and optimize digital platforms, including websites, social media channels, email newsletters, and other online communities
  • Oversee the creation of high-quality digital content, including blogs, videos, graphics, and multimedia, ensuring brand consistency and alignment with audience needs
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure digital efforts are integrated with overall marketing and communications initiatives
  • Develop social media strategies that enhance brand awareness, engagement, and community building
  • Manage the organization’s social media presence, including content planning, posting, and monitoring
  • Engage with audiences across social media platforms to foster relationships, address inquiries, and manage online reputation
  • Track and analyze social media metrics to optimize performance and inform future campaigns
  • Oversee website content strategy and updates, ensuring a user-friendly experience and alignment with SEO best practices
  • Work with web developers/designers to enhance site functionality and design as needed
  • Monitor website analytics and implement strategies to improve user engagement and conversion rates
  • Develop and manage email marketing campaigns to drive engagement and conversions
  • Oversee the creation of compelling email content and effective segmentation strategies
  • Monitor and report on key email marketing metrics, including open rates, click-through rates, and conversions
  • Track and analyze the performance of digital campaigns and platforms using tools like Google Analytics, social media insights, and email marketing dashboards compared to key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Generate regular reports to provide insights into digital engagement, growth, and opportunities for improvement
  • Utilize data-driven insights to adjust and optimize strategies for better results
  • Lead and mentor the digital communications team, ensuring timely execution of projects and professional growth
  • Collaborate with internal functions (e.g., Communications and IT) to integrate digital communication efforts with broader organizational objectives
  • Manage external vendors including graphic designers, web developers, and digital marketing agencies, when needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field
  • 5-7 years of experience in communications, including managing teams
  • Proven experience managing digital marketing platforms
  • Strong technical and computer skills are required and should include MS Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook as well as Social Media communications understanding and knowledge
  • Proficiency in digital communications, including social media platforms, content management systems, and analytics tools
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages for different audiences
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to perform, make decisions and problem-solve under pressure; exercising initiative and sound judgment
  • Exceptional degree of organizational and time management skills
  • Experience working in the non-profit sector considered an asset
  • Working knowledge of applicable legislation
  • French fluency considered an asset
